[tag] Needle || [text] Always use Beissel 130-705 HS Serger needles. Only Beissel offers five different Serger needles for all types of sewing machines- 130-705 HO Serger, 130-705 HD Serger, 130-705 HD Serger HAX1 SP and 130-705 HD Serger DCX1F and 130-705 HD Serger 17x75 Select the right needle depending upon your sewing machine. Serger Needles have two grooves to protect the thread during fast sewing. Home sewing needles run at speeds upto 750 stiches per minute and even that in most cases sewing is intermittent. So, they are nickel plated which has served well for as long as one can remember. Chrome is harmful to environment because of the effluent the plating generates. Avoid any chrome plated needles for regular home sewing. || [tag] Needle || [text] The needles comes in Size 80/12. In some cases, Size 90/14 is additionally offered. Choose the right size depending upon the sewing machine and fabric/thread thickness. || [tag] Needle || [text] A needle is the least expensive item in your project. Do not wait for the needle to break. The needle point is likely to become dull after about 8 hours of sewing. It will begin to make a bigger hole and a “punching sound†making the machine work harder. Change to a nice fresh needle after 8 hours of sewing or when starting a new project. Your sewing machine will work as it is new! || [tag] Stitch type || [text] Serger can’t backstitch. It will cut newly made stitches. || [tag] Cloth || [text] On a conventional machine you can get away sewing on a pin or two. But not on serger. The cutter will be damaged. || [tag] Machine speed || [text] Serger speed is 1700 spm. But normal will be just about 750 spm. Therefore, until you are confident, go slow while sewing. || [tag] Machine || [text] Clean often. Threads and needles will break. Tension will change. Cutting knives and fabric remnants will clog every nook and cranny. Oil moving parts regularly. || [tag] Sewing habit || [text] Push the needle all the way upto the top in the clamp. Otherwise, thread can break. || [tag] Thread || [text] Overlocking thread is a little thinner. So don’t worry about having to use a smaller sized needle. || [tag] Sewing style || [text] Thread will go from front to back. Not left to right as in a regular sewing machine. ||
